Launched in 2023, the Spark of the Year Award celebrates individuals in our community who embody our core values:

  • Community
  • Sustainability

The award features four categories:

  • Positive Role Model of the Year
  • Achievement of the Year
  • Green Initiative of the Year

Students, parents, teachers, and support staff all play a role in selecting the winners. It’s a true community effort to recognise those who inspire and uplift us all.

Teacher and Student of the Year

Before the Spark of the Year Awards, the Tartu International School community presented an award for Teacher of the Year and Student of the Year.

The Teacher of the Year was elected by the whole community, and the award was given out in two categories: Grade 1–3 Teacher of the Year and Grade 4–9 Teacher of the Year. The Teacher of the Year was someone who motivated and inspired students and had greatly contributed to their development; played an active and useful role in the school and its community; demonstrated responsibility to their work and the school; expressed enthusiasm and enjoyment for working with students; and had respect for students, parents and colleagues.

The Student of the Year was elected by the teachers, and the award was given out in two categories: Grade 1–3 Student of the Year and Grade 4–9 Student of the Year. The Student of the Year was a student who set a positive example academically and/or socially to their peers, and/or had demonstrated significant personal growth over the last school year.
